The expression of the autonomy and principles of democracy in the management of the university has been analyzed in the master thesis “The expression of the autonomy and principles of democracy in the management models in university”. University, as guide institute of educating and teaching, is the base cell of democratic society; the research of it brings forward important questions of democracy. Too big state’s intervention is noticeable towards the system of high education in the XXI century. While researching the states regulatory, strategic control pales, there is important to distinguish responsibility- also intervention, whereby are aimed to re-form the goals of education- from the politicization of higher education, which distorts the actual functions of higher education. The aim of research. The aim is to examine the expression of the autonomy and principles of democracy in the management models in university. The research is made of two parts: in the first one, the expression of autonomy and principles of democracy in university theoretic reasoning has been analyzed. In the second one, has been given the comparable analysis of three universities of Lithuania Statutes, analysis of two years internet articles, and the survey data of Siauliai University students about the autonomy and principles of democracy of the university. The theoretic (analysis of scientific literature), empirical (content quality) analysis has been applied in the research. 65 articles of the same year have been researched. 15 Siauliai University postgraduates have participated in the survey. Conclusion. When inspected the articles about the expression of autonomy and principles of democracy in university, it emerged that they are breached in many cases. That proves the disappearance of fundamental education from the program of university studies, the lack of “baskets” system principals of democracy, and the breach of LR Constitution about high education sponsorship. The non-existence of autonomy reasons the researched internet articles about university council, opaqueness of rector election, and also too big intervention of the ministry of education and science in the management of university. When the survey of Siauliai University students has been done, it emerged that, students the “basket” system also considers as not founded on principals of democracy, and SU as not an autonomic institution. The propositions mentioned before, proves the breach of principles of democracy and autonomy in the management of university. |
