Abstract [eng] Olympic education in Lithuania is an innovative and unconventional form of children and youth physical activation. Therefore, there is a lack of scientific advice to assist organizations that deal with pupils' Olympic education, making occupation of pupils more effective through sports, encouraging physical activity, developing a comprehensive personality and implementing humanistic ideals and values of the Olympic education. One of the most effective fields of non-formal education activities is the implementation and development of the idea of Lithuanian Pupils' Olympic Festival (LPOF). Lithuanian Pupils' Olympic Festival is held already for sixth consecutive year, but its usefulness and effectiveness for children and youth Olympic development has not been investigated yet. The subject of the research is the effectiveness of the Olympic pupils' education system, based on the LPOF case. The aim of the research is to analyse the activeness of Lithuanian pupils' participation in the Olympic Festival and to reason the effectiveness of the Olympic education system. Methods of the research: theoretical: analysis and generalisation of literature sources; empirical: a survey in writing; statistical: statistical analysis of the research data. Scope of the research: the survey of 58 professionals responsible for pupils' physical education and sport (of 60) cities and districts of local municipal educational establishments, and records of LPOF competitions held for 5 years (more than 1900 protocols). The research was conducted on the basis of humanistic, active education and modern educational theories of motivation. In the conceptual part of the thesis, we have systematized and generalized theoretical assumptions of the research of the pupil's Olympic education. Here, we have presented the generalised opinion of various authors, claiming that the expression of sports competitions is a particular cultural instrument upholding the Olympic idea, because it promotes living observing rules of clean game, noble principles of conduct, when climbing to a peak of achievements. In the empirical part of the work, we have carried out the analysis of Lithuanian pupils' activity evidencing by their participation in the program LPOF. According to the respondents, the LPOF develops a sense of pupils' patriotism, motivates going in for sports, achieving excellence and promoting healthy lifestyle and at the same time it unbars the opportunities for formation of values. The results of the research confirmed the hypothesis, stating that implementation of the program of Lithuanian Pupils' Olympic Festival promoted the effectiveness of Olympic educational system evidencing by meaningful pupils' occupation, physical activity and change of values.
