Abstract [eng] Communication is one of the most significant life activities, without which the contact and information spread are impossible. It is an essential condition for the exchange of symbolic meanings, i.e. for the purpose of keeping relations. Communication is a necessary and very important element of every organisation, without reference to its size: small or has a thousand of members, or to its status: private, state or public. The communication of organisation may be internal, i.e. contact with internal audiences and external – communications with external audiences. The work first of all discusses the communication process from the general point of view. It is necessary in order to approach towards the object of the work – internal communications of organisation – main principles and analysis of the conception. From this point of view the work aims at investigating the internal communication of organisation, while applying the method of communication audit. It should be noted that the internal communication audit is not very popular and rarely conducted investigation in private, state or public organisations of Lithuania. Most of the companies carry out the isolated investigations concerning separate aspects of company’s communications. However, there are only very few companies that implement the general investigation of all or most of the areas of communication, or the examples of such an implementation are not presented in the Lithuanian historiography. As a result of this the analysis of the conception of communication audit and its practical implementation are very relevant. Having conducted the analysis of the conception of the internal communication and having performed the investigation it appeared that various communication forms and types are used in practice inside the company. The following types are singled out: verbal, non-verbal, simplex (without response) and duplex communication. The vertical communication enables the information to spread “downwards” (used for establishing the tasks of the heads of the groups, defining the works and giving instructions on how to perform them, informing about procedures and current situation of the organisation) and “upwards” (used for the response from employees and office in order to inform about the work results and current problems). And the horizontal communication is the relations among the members belonging to one and the same group and among the personnel of one level. The latter flows of information are more common than vertical communications. It has been established that the communication audit, which combines both the qualitative and quantitative investigation methods, is most effective investigation method for the investigation of organisation internal communication. For the purpose of investigation a UAB “Rubicon group”, which combines 30 companies from all Lithuania, was chosen. After the analysis of investigation data it appeared that all measures necessary for the spread of information and intercommunication exist in the organisation, and its employees qualify the communication inside the group as positive: “good” (56 % of respondents) and “perfect” (15 %).
