The purpose of this master thesis is to determine how stress at work reveals in practise of the music teachers by discussing the factors allowing to identidy the tendencies of expression of stress at work. There are no empirical generalisations in Lithuania revealing the phenomena of stress at work of musical teachers; therefore, this work consists of significant facts about the relevant contemporary problem – the tendencies of expression of stress at work in the field of music teachers – that are discovered through the empirical researches. The object of the study is the tendencies of stress at work in the practical activity of music teachers. The aim of this study is to discover the tendencies of stress at work in the practical activity of the music teacher. The tasks of the study are as follows: 1) to reveal the content and conception of the concept “stress at work” based on the analysis of the sources of scientific literature (psychological, pedagogical, medical, etc.); 2) to discuss the requirements for the profession of music teachers in the context of stress at work; 3) to analyse the factors causing stress at work in the activity of the music teachers; 4) to empirically explore the tendencies of expression of stress at work in the practical activity of the music teachers. 87 teachers took place in the research and the results of this study discovered that the main factors causing stress at work in the practical activity are as follows: relationship with the administration, stage-fright, technical school base, relationship with the colleagues, and characteristics of the school pupil. The administration does not provide financial opportunities to improve. In addition, the pedagogues experience stress because of the pressure, control, too big workload of their superior. Furthermore, music teachers are pressed by the terms of accomplishment of the tasks and rush, which negatively affect the emotional stability, cause tension and constant felling of concern, therefore even during the leisure time music teachers think about their work, they feel depressed, insomniac, worried about the concerts of their pupils. Music teachers are nervous before the shows where they must perform, therefore their heart rate increases, their hands get sweaty. The majority of the music teachers are not satisfied with the quality of the musical instruments at their schools, half of the respondents think that they would achieve better results if there were more teaching instruments. The schoolchildren are noisy during the lessons; their behaviour and attitude towards the musical lessons have influence on the stress that the pedagogues experience. The teachers care about the opinion of the colleagues about their activity – they feel competition which is the source of stress. |
