Abstract [eng] Society, which is tolerant to its negative processes, is not necessarily menaced by social collapse, however good results are most likely to be achieved having such social order, where each individual can live a full-fledged life. Child day care centers in Lithuania are a phenomenon, which has occurred as a result of political and economical changes after the Restoration of Independence, and it reflects the culture of the society. The aforementioned establishments are one of the links of Lithuanian social system. And the efficiency of this system is ensured by the relation between attitude towards a man as a personality, citizen and statistical entity. The present paper covers the theoretical analysis of the concept of socio-educational services as well as of the documents regulating child day care centers and identification of child day care centers as the organizations providing good-quality socio-educational services. Most likely not all components of the current model of providing socio-educational services at child day care centers are actually implemented. A qualitative analysis was performed using a semi-standardized interview method, the objective of which was to analyze the actual (real) model of socio-educational services rendered at child day care centers and to design a desirable (hypothetic) model. The content analysis was performed as well. 10 specialists working at the child day care centers in Šiauliai participated in the research. In the empirical part, the approach of specialists working at the child day care centers and the actual range of socio-educational services rendered and socio-educational service development possibilities were surveyed. Based on the actual and theoretical data base, a hypothetic model of rendering socio-educational services at child day care centers is designed. The research has confirmed a hypothesis that the specialists working in Šiauliai child day care centers do not make full use of existing socio-educational service practices. Therefore, it is reasonable to develop a hypothetical model of rendering the above services at child day care centers, which may serve as a guidance ensuring child day care center efficiency; and the recommendations suggested may serve as a positive premise for quality of socio-educational services at child day care centers. A State unable to provide its citizen with at least minimum living conditions is deprived of moral right to require devotion and respect. Therefore, the cognition – who we are, our origins, where are we heading – is of major importance.
