Abstract [eng] In this work is done the analysis and comparing research of two independent branches of law – labor and social security. There are described the roots of these laws, historical development and meaning. Also there are discussed the objects of labour and social security, social relationships, legal regulation actions, the amount of measures and methods, as well as legal regulation methods the imperative and dispositive ones. More widely are analyzed the main points of the labor law: the free choice of work; the right to have suitable and healthy work conditions; the right payment for work; the right to have a rest; the freedom of associations; the right to get a true salary for work and social security when a person is out of work, on a sick-leaf. Moreover in this work are shown off the functions of the social security law – sharing, supporting the unemployed, protect ional, informative, economic, demographic. There you can find the survey of labor and social security law recourses, their hierarchy. The labor law is a codified branch of the law, which rules of law are placed in the Labour Code of the Republic of Lithuania while the social security law is standard acts array. Furthermore in the final work is particularly discussed the subjects of the labour law – individual employees and employers; collective subjects, which represents employees and collective subjects which represents employers; also mixed labour law subjects – three side council, peacemaking council, labour arbitrage, court. There are described exceptional subjects of the labour law, one of them always is the state or its valid institution, the other subject is a person or a family, who needs adequate social support. In the research work is revealed the relation of labour and social security laws, the influence to each other. In the end is given the summary of the work, which is stated and motivated given in the conclusions.
