Abstract [eng] In the paper a theoretical analysis, concerning the peculiarities of parents’ and adolescents’ communication, while resolving interpersonal conflicts, is done. The hypothesis was that the attitude of parents and adolescents towards interpersonal communication, while resolving conflicts, is different. This hypothesis was confirmed partially. There was a research done in the form of a questionnaire, the aim of which was to analyze the peculiarities of parents’ and adolescents’ attitude towards interpersonal communication between them, while resolving conflicts. A statistical (average, factorial) data analysis was done. 100 parents and 120 students of 2 schools of Naujoji Akmenė city and district municipalities participated in the research. In the empirical part of the paper particular variables of parents’ and adolescents’ attitude towards communication between them during the process of resolving conflicts are evaluated, in order to identify peculiarities of this communication. The main conclusions of the empirical research are: 1. On the grounds of the results of parent’s questionnaire it can be stated that: ٠Parents single out these factors as being the most important for the relationship with their son/daughter: personal qualities that strengthen relationship (openness and trust), being interested in the matters that are directly related to their child (health, life, studies and friends) and intensity of communication (frequency of conversations). ٠ Parents emphasize that conflicts between them and children often occur because of the changes in adolescents‘ behavior and emotions, when children start to mature. Parents tend to think that conflicts are often caused by the studies and improper friends. However, neither distrust nor dissatisfaction with a child is considered as reasons of the conflict. ٠There is a relation between respondents’ demographical variables and certain peculiarities of the attitude towards communication with an adolescent. Women tend to communicate with a child, whereas men notice and give prominence to negative aspects related to the child’s behavior. Parents and foster-parents that have a higher education put stress on variables of satisfaction with their children, whereas adolescent’s negative changes and the importance of strict nurture are emphasized by parents and foster-parents that have a basic education. Parents who grow 3 or more children emphasize distrust and dissatisfaction with a child, importance of strict nurture and making a final decision in the conflicts. Also, they do not incline to admit child’s rights and freedoms, respect and importance of being interested in his/her studies. On the other hand, parents having 2 children do that. 2. Having analyzed the findings of the questionnaires, completed by the adolescents, it can be claimed that: ٠Relations between adolescents and their parents or foster-parents are good and there are not many disagreements (conflicts are more rare, compared to the answers of the questionnaire, filled by parents). ٠There are paritetic relations between parents and children. Parents are the people who are responsible for certain adolescent’s actions and decisions, they do not permit their children to misbehave, be opposed to or ignore parents. Parents do not behave in a way that would cause disagreements or conflicts between them and their adolescent children. ٠During conflicts and after them adolescents experience various feelings and emotions (anger, apathy, sadness) and think about possible changes. However, if that is not emphasized, it means that relations are positive, a little number of conflicts or absence of them. 3. On the grounds of the conclusions mentioned above, it can be stated that the hypothesis “Parents’ and adolescents’ attitude towards interpersonal communication while resolving conflicts is different” was confirmed partially.
