In this Master's degree work the activity specifics of parochial children's day centers as social educational help institutions are analysed, the socioeducational projects as main activity of parochial children's day centers are discussed, the aspects of organizing the implementation of these projects are analyzed. The qualitative research was carried out in order to base the importance of the topic. This reseach identified how the implementation of socioeducational projects is carried out in parochial children's day centers. In the interview participated leaders of five parochial children's day centers. The research was carried out in March, 2011 in five parochial children's day centers in Kaunas, Anykščiai, Kretinga and Rietavas region. The main conclusions of the research: 1. The socioeducational activity of parochial children's day centers involves the social education of children, consultations, complex and psychosocial help for children. There are 1 to 20 projects written every year in the centers.The projects are about the organizing the occupation and extra-curricular time of children. Also the preventive, social and daily life educational, meeting major needs of children, psychological help projects are carried out. Not only the children but also their parents are involved in socioeducational projects. Centers communicate with non-profit organizations which provide social services in Lithuania and abroad. 2. The negative elements that influence the organizing of implementation of socioeducational projects in parochial children's day centers came out: not all the institutions have prepared the strategic activity plan which could help to see critically the mistakes of the past, to analyze present activity elements and foresee the aims of activity, to improve continuously the activity of institutions; only two parochial children's day centers have presented projects for the competitions to receive finances from EU structural funds in order to renovate the premises; insufficient financing from the governmental or municipality budget; not all the possible forms of cooperation with municipalities are applied; strict requirements of municipalities; unfriendly national politics towards the non-profit organizations; great changes of staff; the lack of volunteers; not objective mass-media which is significant in forming the society view towards parochial children's day centers and their socioeducational activity. |
