It is necessary to develop competent people in contemporary society who could apply their knowledge in changing conditions. The identified need to apply knowledge independently has changed the conception of educational objective, a new form, competency-based learning, originated. The growing demand for knowledge faced pre-school teachers with the new requirements for their activities. It is important for teachers to keep learning, to update their knowledge in order to work in a changing society under normal conditions. In pursuance to ensure a quality education process, it is necessary to encourage teachers’ continuing professional motivation, because pre-school teachers can work productively only if they systematically raise their qualifications. The object of the research are factors which influence the development of qualifications of pre-school teachers. This research work was done to investigate the promoting and suppressive factors of pre-school teachers’ qualifications training. The aim of the research is to investigate pre-school teachers' attitudes to training and the factors influencing it. Hypothesis of the research: It is likely that pre-school teachers 'approach to skills development is different and that the majority of teachers improve skills seeking for career development and quality in education. Questionnaire survey was conducted in 2012 in Plunge and Telšiai district pre-school institutions. The survey involved 162 pre-school teachers. 36 headmasters of pre-school institutions were also interviewed. The final work consists of two sections: the first section provides the analysis of scientific literature on the topic and the significance of competence training for teachers is discussed. The second part of the final paper presents the survey results, their analysis, conclusions and recommendations are formulated. The statistical data analysis allowed to test and confirm the hypothesis of the study and influenced the formulation of conclusions and recommendations of the study. |
