Abstract [eng] |
Relevance of the survey is predetermined by the fact that in this period, within the context of social integration, large role falls on NGO when representing disabled people‘s interests. Therefore, this survey was conducted in order to ascertain the efficiency of representation of disabled people‘s interests through different activities of non-governmental organisations, interrogating not only managers of the organisation, the disabled people themselves, while revealing their experience in the representation of interests but also governmental representatives. Theoretical analysis of the concept of social integration and opportunities of social participation in non-governmental organisation was performed in this survey. Object of the survey: efficiency of representation of disabled people‘s interests by NGO. Two hypotheses have been brought up: Disabled people themselves should be the most active in the field of representation of disabled people’s interests; Cooperation in representing disabled people’s interests among disabled people, NGO managers and governmental representatives is insufficient. Tasks of the survey: 1. To analyse scientific literature on the issues related to disabled people’s social participation, representation of their interests in public through the NGO activities. 2. Referring to the analysis of scientific literature, to prepare the survey instrument revealing the efficiency of representation of disabled people to NGO and governmental representatives, while representing their interests. 3. To establish participation opportunities and reasons preventing disabled people from participation in social life. 4. To reveal institutional interaction while resolving the disabled people‘s issues. 5. Referring to the results of the survey data, to provide recommendations to NGO managers, disabled people and governmental representatives. The survey was conducted with the method of data content analysis. Fifteen disabled people belonging to NGO took part in the survey and four governmental representatives were interrogated, including legislative and executive governmental representatives. In the empirical chapter, opportunities opening to disabled people, efficiency of NGO and social participation and representation of interests through the NGO activities were analysed. The most substantial conclusions of the empirical survey: 1. Following the survey results it is possible to assert that NGO actively contributes to the reduction of social separation of disabled people, while representing their interests. Efficiency of NGO encourages social participation of disabled people. Participation in various NGO activities is also appearance in the society. This way, the first hypothesis has proven out partly that disabled people themselves should be the most active in the field of representation of disabled people’s interests. Such opportunities open thanks to close contact of disabled people with NGO. 2. Reasons preventing disabled people from being active include negative attitude of the society towards disabled people, which afterwards emphasizes passiveness of disabled people and their inadequate self-estimation. 3. On one hand, disabled people create social networks and NGO strives to expand its activity, but on the other hand it strikes against financial situation which stresses indifference among governmental representatives with regard to representation of disabled people‘s interests. Having completed the survey it is possible to state that the second hypothesis has proven out that cooperation in representing disabled people’s interests among disabled people, NGO managers and governmental representatives is insufficient. 4. With the help of data collected in the course of this survey it was revealed that the delitescence of conflicts with regard to representation of interests among the NGO managers and fear to create social networks by disabled people against governmental representatives, while representing their interests, reveal passiveness and disabled people are not encouraged to take their own decisions in order to achieve their higher proactiveness. |
