Abstract [eng] The problem of learning motivation and self-assessment of pupils is and always will be significant and topical. The object of research - learning motivation and self-assessment of junior and elder adolescents. The aim of research - determination of peculiarities of adolescents’ learning motivation. The survey was performed in Raseiniai primary school and Raseiniai “Žemaitis” gymnasium. In the survey, 242 pupils of 8 – 12 classes participated. To get required data, the questionnaire from monograph “The steady learning in Lithuania” (1995) by D. Beresnevičienė was used. The research findings showed that the internal motivation is more relevant for adolescents when their parent’s education is higher. It was ascertained that the internal learning motivation is prior for children that parents have acquired higher education. Higher education acquired by fathers has more influence on internal learning motivation of adolescents than the same by mothers. It was ascertained the relationship between education of a father and motivation for further learning of adolescents (r=0,145, p<0,05), i. e. the higher is the education of a father is, the stronger is motivation for further learning. For the self-assessment of adolescents, the education acquired by mothers is more relevant. The higher is the education of a mother, the more talented and active feel the adolescents themselves. It was established the relationship between popularity of adolescents among contemporaries and internal motivation, i. e. the more popular are they, the stronger is the internal motivation. Also, the research findings showed that the more popular adolescent is, the major worth love and harmony in the family is; additionally, money is less important. Comparing learning motivation of junior and elder adolescents was noted, that internal learning motivation is stronger by elder adolescents, while external learning motivation is observable by junior adolescents. Also, motivation for further learning is especially strong by elder adolescents.
