Abstract [eng] In the Master‘s thesis student‘s development of the cross-cultural abilities are being studied in the self- directed and hidden curricula context of International Baccalaureate Diploma programme. In the theoretical part the concepts of intercultural education, formal, informal and self-oriented learning and hidden curriculum are being analyzed. Hidden curriculum is being understood as including many aspects which are relevant to the formation of the migratory attitudes. Besides, in the theoretical part the International Baccalaureate diploma programme itself is being analyzed as an example of the intercultural education. In the empirical part International Baccalaureate students‘ interviews are analyzed in order to reveal their motives of the wishes to study abroad an the migratory attitudes. The results revealed that education is one of the factors which contribute to the formation of values and attitudes. The process is also influenced by the wider social, cultural and economic contexts and by own personal experience.
