Abstract [eng] The system and improvement capabilities of this system of performance appraisal of educators in general education schools are being examined in this thesis. The following issues are being analysed: how the performance appraisal of educators in general education schools is being evaluated and are there significance changes depending on the school status – is there a difference between primary schools and gymnasiums. The concept of performance is defined in the theoretical part, the significance of evaluation to the school is analysed, identifies the methods used in the evaluation process, criteria, evaluation process, evaluation of schools as the internal and external audit shall contribute to the education staff in the performance appraisal. The empirical part presents the research stages of implementation, methods, tools based on research, the organization of the empirical research. Survey of 198 secondary school teachers and 4 school principals, the system of performance appraisal of educators in primary schools and gymnasiums was assessed, the abilities of impartial evaluation were assessed, statistically significant difference of evaluation of educators between gymnasiums and primary schools assessed, the approach of the general education school principals’ to performance appraisal of educators was revealed.
