This Master's thesis analyses the rules, process and peculiarities of the employment of foreigners in the legislation of the Republic of Lithuania. The analysis is carried out by taking into account the different requirements provided for in the legislation, comparing legal sources, and providing insights based on scientific and media articles and publications of the competent state institutions regulating the employment of foreigners. In order to provide the most comprehensive insights possible, the Master's thesis highlights the peculiarities of the recruitment procedures in the employment of nationals of the Member States of the European Union and their family members, and of the Member States of the European Free Trade Association and of third-country nationals. For the sake of completeness, the stages of employment of foreigners are also distinguished - legal entry and stay on the territory of the Republic of Lithuania, and the employment procedure itself in terms of, in example, obtaining work permits, specifics of the employment contracts, submission of supplementary notifications. The individual grounds for stay in the Republic of Lithuania and the requirements for employment are explained, comparisons are made between the rules for nationals of different countries, and it is noted in which cases benefits are granted or the usual or more complicated entry and employment procedures are used. The paper discusses the current version of the legislation, compares it with the previous versions, provides insights into the reasons for the change and discusses the impact of the specific changes on the overall process of employment of foreigners. The paper analyses the legislation of the Republic of Lithuania on the employment of foreigners by examining relevant legal acts and information provided by the institutions, and provides insights into the implications of this regulation, its amendments for the employment of foreigners and the possibilities of its real implementation. |
