Abstract [eng] This Master‘s thesis examines reformatory measures that can be imposed on minors or young adults (up to 21 years old) as juvenile offenders, in accordance with the procedure established by the Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania. The work extensively reveals the historical development of the reformatory measures and the biggest changes which influenced the current system. Also, by carefully analyzing and comparing the provisions and positions prevailing in the legal doctrine, the purpose and practical significance of the reformatory measures are identified, indicating the influence the system of measures has on the minor. The work examines the principles of the application of measures, affecting the scope of exemption from criminal liability or punishment, suspension of execution of the sentence and parole, as well as clarifying the legal consequences for juveniles for non-compliance with the assigned reformatory measures. In this work, the special attention is paid to examination of individual measures, which there are six in total. In order to reveal the peculiarities of the application of these reformatory measures, the review and comparison of judicial practice and doctrine was used in the work. The particularities of assigning measures, powers and limitations of the court in selecting and assigning appropriate measures to a minor are described in detail. Finally, the paper reveals the problematic aspects of reformatory measures and presents the conclusions.
