Abstract [eng] |
The aim of this paper is to evaluate the effectiveness of pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy in treating functional gastrointestinal disorders. Functional gastrointestinal disorders encompass a spectrum of chronic gastrointestinal conditions that lack an obvious structural or biochemical cause. Symptoms include chronic abdominal pain, discomfort, and changes in bowel habits. They significantly affect patients' quality of life, often leading to reduced productivity and increased healthcare costs. While conventional treatment methods exist, some patients continue to experience symptoms. The literature review reveals several studies where pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy significantly improved symptoms of functional gastrointestinal diseases. The therapy effectively managed digestive symptoms such as bloating, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, thus improving the quality of life for those affected. These findings suggest that pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy is a promising therapeutic option for patients with functional gastrointestinal diseases. Proper diagnosis and appropriate enzyme supplementation can enhance patient outcomes, reduce healthcare burdens, and improve their ability to participate in daily life. Further research is warranted to optimize treatment protocols and identify patients who would benefit most. |
