Abstract [eng] This master thesis provides, that there has been a marked change in the structure and forms of the family due to social, economic, and technological changes and improvements in communication. Traditional family models are gradually changing into more modern ones, reflecting the diversity of society. While marriage has long been considered the basic element of the family, the international community is beginning to recognize other forms of family, such as the institution of partnership. In this context, partnership relations and their legal regulation in Lithuania are examined. This is an important issue, as the current legal system often protects only families based on traditional notions of marriage, ignoring the existence of other family models. The originality of the work manifests itself in the search for different aspects, starting with an analysis of how the new family forms affect the dynamics of society and ultimately shape the legal and social structure. At the same time, it seeks to understand how traditional and modern family forms can coexist and how their interaction can be regulated at the level of legislation. This approach opens the way not only to the identification of the legal problems of the institution of partnership but also to a creative approach to improving the legal system. In this way, innovative solutions can be promoted that respond to modern family structures and needs, while respecting traditional values. This can include not only the development and amendment of legal norms but also educational programs, public information, and other initiatives that promote tolerance, understanding, and equality in all families, whatever their form. It may be necessary to conduct new research and engage in discussions to gain a better understanding of the various dynamics and diversities of family relationships, and to support legal modifications. It is crucial to maintain a balance between preserving traditional values and the adaptability of modern legal regulations, while also being open to the needs and rights of all families, throughout the entire process. The focus of this work has been on the shortcomings of the legal framework in Lithuania and the need to improve it for partnership relations. The research suggests that the current Lithuanian legal framework lacks a clear definition of partnership relations, which results in issues related to property relations, rights limitation, and other related problems. To address these issues, the proposal is to develop a partnership law that would ensure equal legal protection for persons in partnerships. It is important to separate partnership from marriage and expand legal norms to protect all families, socially and economically. The conclusions underline the need to recognize partnership as a legal category and to ensure equal rights and protection for all participants in family relationships.
