In the past 20 years, various THz technologies have received increasing attention. Currently, THz is being explored for its potential uses in various scientific research fields and commercial applications. The rapidly growing THz technology has created a demand for effective and affordable THz radiation sources and detectors. As potential candidates to fulfil this purpose, various semiconductor devices were investigated. The purpose of this thesis is therefore to theoretically and practically determine the effectiveness of an avalanche diode as a THz detector in accordance to various research works done about diode detectors. |
