The aim of the thesis is to analyse how psychotherapeutic discourse is constructed in Hannah Gadsby’s 2017 stand-up comedy performance „Nanette“. The analysis is based on the semiotic models of alterity and interaction developed by Eric Landowski, as well as on Benveniste’s concept of enunciation. The paper introduces the concept of psychotherapeutic discourse as a guideline for the analysis and provides a semiotic description of the situation of enunciation in a stand-up comedy performance. The paper also analyses the meanings of the title of the performance. The sociosemiotic model of alterity is applied to discuss the significance of the colour blue in the performance. |
