Abstract [eng] The main purpose of this master thesis is to perform literature analysis and identify theoretical motives, problems and success factors of older women to create their own business, after conducting an empirical study to determine the motives, problems and success factors of senior women in Lithuania to create their own business and to provide recommendations for the promotion of entrepreneurship of senior women in Lithuania. The work consists of three main parts: the analysis of literature, the research and its results, conclusion and recommendations. Literature analysis reviews the development of senior women in the labor market, discusses entrepreneurial opportunities and the prerequisites for creating one's own business. After the literature analysis the author has carried out the study about the entrepreneurial motivations, problems and success factors of Lithuanian older women. The research was conducted using the interview method. The research involved 12 senior women with their own business, who started their business at the age of 55 and older. The results of the research were compared to the similar studies performed in the other countries. The results of the research were selected content analysis. The performed research revealed that the senior women who took part in the study can be identified as necessity-driven entrepreneurs, as they were mostly driven by external motives such as job loss, job search problems, health problems, and financial stability to create their own business. The conclusions and recommendations summarize the main concepts of literature analysis as well as the results of the performed research. The author believes that the results of the study could give useful guidelines Lithuanian financial institutions and the Ministry of Social Security and Labour.
