The selection of profession is one of the most important and significant choices, made by the human being in one’s life. The preparation for the professional career is organised during the period of the learning at school, therefore the school is given an important role – not only to help in matching aims and possibilities of education, but also to adapt them to social and economic needs of the dynamic society. Professional information and consultation is closely linked to the education of children at schools. Helping the child to select the profession consciously and appropriately is difficult and responsible tasks of the school. It is important to offer the appropriate professional information and consultation, therefore ways are to be found and applied for the more successful implementation of this task. The school must contribute to the process, when more and more young people select the appropriate speciality; they will later become happy and useful members of the society. Object of the survey. To analyse how services of professional information and consultation are organised in schools and if they satisfy needs of students in senior grades. Methods of the survey. Theoretical method: scientific literature analysis, analysis of education documents; empiric method: quantitative, mixed questionnaire.
