Abstract [eng] The aim of the work is to theoretically and empirically investigate the implementation of education career system in X gymnasium and to identify its significance to quality improvement. The thesis analyzes the implementation of the system of career education and the organization of high school in order to find out the current situation and to take concrete steps to improve the situation. The study was carried out in November/December, 2013. The quantitative questionnaire was given to 157 high school students who are in Forms II and IV, and a qualitative study involved six high school teachers and other employees working in the gymnasium. The results showed that the main difficulties encountered by high school students are the lack of career planning skills, inability to plan for the future, being unaware of self-realization and self-knowing. The most useful career competencies to develop are self-test in practice, consultation with career professionals, career days, attending lectures / seminars, meetings with high / vocational school representatives, famous people. This confirms the relevance of high school students’ needs and the need to organize school career education, career development in various events for students in order to improve career skills. Properly selected and systematically applied career education helps to accumulate knowledge, develop students’ skills, competencies and help plan their career. It is important that the students know where, when and how to get the career education services.
