Abstract [eng] Recently, an increased emphasis has been placed on the quality of pre-school education and its assessment due to its great impact on subsequent academic performance and adaptation competences and abilities of children and young people which are necessary in today’s competitive and knowledge-based society. Therefore, as the quality of the Lithuanian education system has been growing in importance, it is relevant to take a new look at the current situation and to explore the issues of the quality of pre-school education services. The topic of the paper: the quality of pre-school education services from the point of view of community members of different educational institutions. The goal of the study: to explore the quality of pre-school education services from the perspective of community members of different educational institutions. Research methods: scientific literature analysis, qualitative research based on structured interviews and quantitative research based on questionnaire survey. The quantitative survey included 232 respondents, of whom 25 were the heads of pre-school educational institutions, 25 were pre-school teachers, and 182 were parents raising children of pre-school age. The results of the survey of the heads of educational institutions, pre-school teachers, elementary school teachers and parents raising children of pre-school age, partially confirmed the hypothesis: parents are more likely to understand the quality of education as an adequate child care but they also expect academic achievements from their children including reading, writing and counting, meanwhile pedagogues and teachers perceive it as education ensuring good education outcomes for children. The differing attitudes may be the cause for the lack of consensus on the criteria for education quality.
