In the market economy, most enterprises face with the need for money to finance the activities, in order to maintain or increase the volume of available capital. Financial markets may offer a number of ways and means of financing – bank credits, equity and bond issuance, factoring, leasing and others. Around the world the most popular are ways of financing are leasing and credits. Credits are not always suitable for various aspects, so leasing is as an alternative source of financing for bank credits. The object of the paper is leasing and its characteristics that distinguish it from other sources of financing and lessees in Lithuania. The aim of the paper is to explore the importance of leasing for the Lithuanian enterprises. Paper tasks are: 1. Provide the theoretical aspects of the leasing, to analyse approaches different authors; 2. To assess the advantages and disadvantages of leasing compared to bank credit; 3. To provide the Lithuanian leasing market development analysis, trends and to assess the leasing companies in the regulatory legislation; 4. To provide leasing companies’ forecasts for the future; 5. To assess existing and potential lessees approach to this source of financing; 6. To submit proposals for promotion of activities in Lithuania for leasing companies. The paper consists of three parts. In theoretical work part the leasing concept, the development history of the service in the world is provided, the types of leasing and the issues of leasing contracts are described as well as leasing qualitative assessment is made. The analytical part analyzes the development of leasing in Lithuania, the leasing activity’s regulation, trends for the future are provided. The third – result – part consists of analysis of survey results. Survey was carried out by Lithuanian leasing enterprises representatives, corporate current and future lessees representatives, in order to evaluate the attractiveness of leasing and its importance to activity of Lithuanian enterprises. |
