Abstract [eng] Today's economy is also known as news and information economy. Revolution of technologies and globalization brought many new things to the business. One of the latest is the e-business and e-commerce. These terms are known in well developed countries for some time already and became a daily thing. On the contrary, in Lithuania electronic business is only starting to develop and is in the early stage of development. Main e-business problems in Lithuania is a lack of qualified personnel and enterprise users of non-electronic communications. In this paper, the third important factor is mentioned. It is the consumer or simply the demand. It is different in every sphere and has to be analyzed before trying to satisfy it. Object of the paper - electronic business. Aim of the paper - to analyze the business opportunities in the Lithuanian small and medium-sized enterprises and to provide recommendations to ensure the faster development of e-business in Lithuania. Main tasks raised in the paper: to provide e-business concept in the theoretical aspect, to define the e-business models classification, to analyze the characteristics of the electronic market, following the basis of scientific literature and made empirical studies to explain the importance of e-business for companies, to analyze the curent situation of e-business in Lithuanian small and medium sized enterprises, to analyze the needs of consumers and the available ways to satisfy them through e-business market in Lithuania, to submit proposals and recommendations for small and medium-sized enterprises in order to faster the development of Lithuanian e-business. In the theoretical part of the paper e-business theoretical aspects are presented. It begins with history of the e-business, its' development and finishes with the use of it in companies. In the analytical part of the paper the analysis of curent e-business situation in Lithuania is presented. Lithuanian scientific researches, foreign conference materials and statistical data is used to analyze the situation. In the third part research on e-business consumers is made. Results are given, as well as recommendations for faster electronical business development in Lithuania's small and medium-sized enterprises.
