BANEVIČIŪTĖ, Vaiva (2010) The Perspectives of Foreing Direct Investment in Kaunas Region. MBA Graduation Paper. Kaunas: Kaunas Faculty of Humanities, Vilnius University. 68 p. SUMMARY Foreign direct investment is cosidered as one of the main factors influencing economic growth and development of a particular region. The object of the paper work is foreign direct investment in Kaunas region. The main tasks that were held in order to reach the target: to evaluate the influence and importance of foreign direct investment in development of country‘s economy; to reveal the models that are used in research of foreign direct investment; to estimate quantitative changes of foreign direct investment in Lithuania and other Baltic states providing economic interpretations; to perform an empirical study on main factors infuencing foreign direct investment in Kaunas region and make a forecast based on most inportant factors. Paper consists of three main parts. In the first part influence of foreign direct investment on development of a country and region is being analyzed; the second part consists of statistical analysis of foreign direct investment and it’s factors in Baltic states pointing out Lithuania’s case; the third part includes empirical analysis or factors influencing foreign direct investment in Kaunas region. Paper volume: 68 pages, 19 tables, 21 figures and 63 references used. Empirical research revealed that the most important factors influencing foreign direct investment in Kaunas region are economic openness, average monthly wage and market size which makes negative impast to foreign direct investment in Kaunas region. The predicted forecast indicated that in following four years foreign direct investment has a tendency to be lower than it is at the moment and decisions needs to be made to preserve this. |
