With the development of technologies and the increasing demand for public services, public sector is looking for new opportunities in this field. One of the ways to satisfy the growing need of services is public and private sectors partnership. The paper examines theoretical aspects of public and private sectors partnership, analyses legal and economic environment of such partnership, presents and analyses the cases of private sector involvement in public services. It also discusses the importance of public and private sectors partnership in the context of public sector management reforms and new public management. Public and private sectors partnership is presented as a tool for efficient use of available resources, implementation of innovations and advanced managerial methods in the field of public services. The object. Public and private sectors partnership in Lithuania. The aim. To explore the opportunities and prospects of the public and private sectors partnership use. The objectives. After having analysed the concept of public and private sectors partnership the paper seeks to present its specifications and to summarize the classifications of public and private sectors partnership forms; to analyse legal regulations of public and private sectors partnership; to analyse the practice of public and private sectors partnership projects in European Union and Lithuania with the purpose to determine the level of such partnership; to carry out the empirical research of public and private sectors partnership in Lithuanian municipalities and disclose the opportunities and prospects of the public and private sectors partnership. The study, object of which were Lithuanian business enterprises, was conducted using a questionnaire survey method. Having analysed the results of the research, a theoretical model of public and private sectors partnership has been created. The model shows the relationship between the need of public services and services infrastructure which was developed due to the public and private sectors partnership.
