Abstract [eng] Information and communication technology (further refer as - ICT) development and globalization processes are affecting all areas of life. Globalization is changing established relationship, practice and culture, destroying the territorial limits. ICT brings to globalization a new - virtual – area, which has no limiting borders of states, but there could be communicational barriers. ICT development affects and learning process. Ongoing changes and the need for continuous learning in today's society leads to the development of e-learning as an alternative to face-to-face studies. E-learning are conducted through ICT tools, in other words, students and tutor in the process of interaction is realized through information technology. In this way, there are no direct communication between students and tutor. Many authors note that the social interaction and communication skills are taught in educational institutions. And the problem is - whether learning and communicating by ICT can compensate for this. In e-studies written word takes a direct role and starts to function as the language. However, whether computer mediated communication can convey non-verbal elements of face-to face communication - intonation, expressions, tone of voice, gestures, and many others. So the aim of the paper is – to analyse communication in e-learning and distinguish the main similarities and differences of English and Lithuanian computer mediated communication. Results of researches show that e-learning support systems in Lithuania and England are significantly different. Students feel lack of information about study form, objectives, and opportunities in Lithuania. Communication tools of virtual learning environment are not very developed. This study leads blended form of e-learning to be the most popular. In England e-learning support system – conditions for studies, quality of communication, student’s motivation is highly advanced. Students get full package of all necessary information and has user-friendly virtual learning environment. All these features ensure effective learning process and develop a deep approach to studies.
