Abstract [eng] Lithuanian demographic development experiences essential changes from the last decade of twentieth century. Lithuania as others members of the European Union has faced a phenomenon of the aging society. The average age of population is constantly increasing due to decrease in the fertility rate. This fact leads to considerable changes in the labor market. Hence the average age of the workforce is gradually increasing. It is supposed that more than 27 % people aged 60’s and more will live in Lithuania at year 2030. The employment rate of Lithuanian senior people is now higher than in many European countries, but it is quite likely that growing employment of mentioned age group is caused by increased level of migration. Nonetheless Lithuanian Government initiated positive changes in the legislative system and created special programs for solution of senior unemployment problem, these efforts are not good enough. In order to achieve goals of the EU unemployment strategy Government should pay more attention to the employers’ side and those, who are still working, but are already not young. The lack of information related to attitudes towards work of working senior people and their employers was a reason of survey, which aim was: · To investigate the attitude towards work of senior people; · Find out the difference in answers of senior people and their employees. There were 51 senior employees and 21 employers respondents interviewed during the survey, which have showed that majority of senior employees are satisfied with their job. Most of seniors are well motivated and still feel productive. Some of them think their productivity is constantly increasing. Only a few seniors have experienced discrimination at their workplace. More than a half of employees would like to improve their professional skills. Only 45 % of older workers would like the special working arrangements. The results of employers survey showed, that their evaluation of employees job satisfaction is better than it really is, but this difference is not significant. The employers’ stereotyped thinking hypothesis was rejected. The employers’ attitude towards senior workers training is worrying.
