Abstract [eng] Fixed-term Employmet Contract Summary This master’s thesis analyses specificity, and formation, implementation and termination aspects of the fixed-term employment contract as a flexible form of work organisation. The focus is on the regulation of fixed-term employment contracts in the Republic of Lithuania; however, the examples of other foreign countries are also presented for comparison. The master’s thesis consists of four major parts. The first part analyses the fixed-term employment contract as one of the types of employment agreements. This part presents the concept of fixed-term employment contract and the cases when such contract may be concluded. Types of the fixed-term employment contracts, such as seasonal and temporary employment contracts, as well as their main aspects, are also introduced in brief, though they are not analysed thoroughly. The second part of the thesis is intended to provide the information on the main aspects of flexibility and security of fixed-term labour relations. Since the term-fixed contract is eventually named as one of the possible implementations of flexible labour relations, this section of the thesis examines at what extent the flexibility should be combined with security in labour relations. The third part of the master's thesis is focused on the analysis of the formation of fixed-term employment contract and its implementation. Preconditions for creation of the fixed-term employment contract and term identification issues are analysed, and the implementation of the fixed-term employment contract is reviewed. The fourth part of the thesis is dedicated to the analysis of the fixed-term employment contract termination. At first, termination of the contract due to maturity (expiration) is analysed, later fixed-term employment contract termination on other grounds is discussed briefly.
