Abstract [eng] Relevance of research. Learning - is the main students activities involving the full development of the person. Successful learning is associated with a positive self-awareness, self conceptions and other parts of personality formation, which are important choosing a profession. School students who experiencing failures often loses desire to learn, his motivation is weakening. The society formed a stereotype that low intelligence and low self- valuing children are bad in learning or do not want to learn or even want to leave school. It is believed that the quality of learning leads to the child's needs, interests, values, attitudes, aspirations, preferences. However, learning motivation can be attributed not only to individual characteristics, but also the influence of the social environment, what the child is thinking about his successful (unsuccessful) reasons for learning, how he evaluates himself, how parents and teachers evaluates his learning , and so on. The object of research. High school students learning motivation and self- assessment significance choosing profession. The aim of this research. Theoretically ground and empirically investigate the 9-12 grade students learning motivation and self- assessment the significance importance choosing the profession. The methods of research. Theoretical. Analyze the pedagogical and psychological literature, legal and educational documents. Empirical. Quantitative research data collection method: a questionnaire survey made ​​by the author for secondary and high school students. This method has been adapted in order to self-assessment (assessment scale Petrulyte A. (1985, 1995 ), the Rosenberg self- evaluation scale (SES ) ) and learning motivation questionnaire (Entwistle, NJ, 1979, 1981, 1983), to investigate the significance of profession decision. Statistics. Data grouping of the research, summarize and compare, graphical data representation by Windows Microsoft Office Excel (2003 and 2007) and SPSS v17 programs. Research methodology: based on F. Parson 's personality and career matching theory, J. Holland personality and professional environment matching theory and D. E. Super career models. L. Jovaisa profession guidance theory. The research sample and the organization: limited sample was made for the research, the results does not apply to all populations. Was made surveys in two selected schools. Thirst in secondary school in Siauliai, second in gymnasium in district of Siauliai. The study sample consisted of 166 respondents from 9-12 grade students. The result shows that many of the 11-12 class’s students still doubts about the profession determination. This is for their lack knowledge about the required skills, personal qualities, and how, the respondents indicated, and a lack information about profession. This shows that students to little knows about themselves , they do not rely on their own profession choice, they lack attention to themselves to demonstrate their talents and this may complicate their choice of profession and don’t know will they unfold in chosen profession as a person and it will be coherence with chosen profession . Students do not have a high learning motivation, but self-esteem is important for students. Examining cognitive self-assessment in touch with the emotional, found that emotional self-esteem is more important than cognitive.
