Abstract [eng] The purpose of this master’s thesis is to analyse Lithuanian legal regulation of fixed-term employment contracts. The master’s thesis consists of four main parts. The first part is made of a concept and sorts of fixed-term employment contracts interpretation. The second part involves a creation of fixed-term employment contracts. Specific essential condition of a fixed-term employment contracts is the term. For fixed-term employment contract making it is essential and temporary work though the Labour Code allows the exceptions of this imperative regulation. In the third part of master’s thesis is analysing peculiarities of performance of fixed-term employment contracts. Employer has no right to discriminate workers on a basis that they are employed by fixed-term employment contracts. Employer has a duty to inform fixed-term workers about free workplaces of regular work too. It should be noted that Labour Code allows the parties of employment contract to extend the term of fixed-term contract. In the fourth part is analysing the end of fixed-term employment contracts - the consequences of term expiration and the basis of the employment contract’s discontinuance before the term has ended. Fixed-term employment contract finishes by the end of the employment contract term. However if the term of an employment contract expired but the parties of employment contract continues the relations of work, the employment contract from fixed-term becomes to open-ended.
