The aim of the research – to explore the main factors of stress in oncology nurse’s job. Problems: 1. To investigate the oncology nurses work environment influence on factors that can affect the stress at work. 2. To determine is the oncology nurses action of taking part at work enviroment can affect the stress. 3. To evaluate is the social climate at work can affect the stress of oncology nurses job. 4. Give advice on how to avoid the stress at work. The object of research: The oncology nurses stress at work affecting factors. Hypothesis: The oncology nurses stress at work is affected by job environment. The methods of research: The research was carried out from October 2007 until May 2009. There were 112 oncology nurse, who were working at Vilnius University Oncology institute. The standard questionnaire used had 10 questions, which were representing nurse’s social environment at their working place. The questionnaire has been taken from the learning materials for nurses and midwives. Laman “Learning material on nursing” , year 1996, part No. 10. To analyse the data SPSS for Windows 17.0 v. statistical batch processing has been used. Results: Oncology nurses mostly had no opinion when they were evaluating these parts of their work environment: the usefulness of their working shifts 33, 9%, the news connected with work amount 25,89%, the opportunity to carry out the tasks which could be the trial of their forces 42,0% , new and unusual tasks volunteered implement 37,5%. Nurses absolutely positive were evaluating: their sufficiency of knowledge and studied degree to carry out all the tasks 42,9%, activity of management, when they are making work plans and fulfilling tasks 36,6% and colleagues positive activity when they are dividing their knowledge and experience at work 39,28%. Mostly positive nurses were evaluating the opportunity to plan their work by themselves 30,36%. Analysing oncology nurses work environment they had no opinion of: the management interest of their new ideas 33,0%, enthusiasm of telling out their ideas 39,32% and their working institution taken work tactic and work methods 25,89%. Evaluating the work environment usually nurses completely agree that they are busy all the time at work 45,05%, nurses ought to do all the planed work 42,86%, all the staff is reaching the same aim 39,64%, and that work is grounded of staff trustiness of each other 41,07. The nurses at least a bit agree that staff is communicate nicely with each other 38, 39%, they have a freedom to make their own decisions at work 41,07, the duties accords the main organisation contests and aims 33,33%. It was investigated that in work social climate oncology nurses had no opinion of: evaluating the team spirit at work 42,86%, the support of colleagues when they do the work well 41,07%, the support of colleagues, when the nurse has some new ideas and offers 36,61%, the atmosphere at working place 30,36%, relationship between the staff and management 39,29% and relationships with the other departments of the hospital 31,25%. Evaluating a social climate at work respondents completely agree that they have a person to talk with when there is some problems at work 33,93% and that the conflicts are usually judging nicely and sincerely 30,36%.
