Abstract [eng] Nowadays the questions of effectiveness of public sector are very important in the society. The adoption of private business performance principles and methods in public sector may lead to the improvement of its effectiveness. The object of the MBA Graduation Paper - the private business performance principles and methods. The goal of the MBA Graduation Paper was to analyze theoretical aspects of private business performance principles and methods adoption in public sector, and to give solutions for private business performance principles and methods adoption in Kaunas’ municipality based on the results of empirical research. The aims of the MBA Graduation Paper were: 1. to discuss the theoretical aspects of public sector performance and influence of NPM to public sector; 2. to analyze the areas of adoption of private business performance principles and methods; 3. to analyze aspects of private and public sector partnership exploiting the advantages of private business; 4. to perform the research of Kaunas’ municipality performance principles and methods; 5. to give solutions how to improve the adoption of private business performance principles and methods in Kaunas’ municipality. The results of the MBA Graduation Paper are: the analysis of theoretical aspects of private business performance principles and methods adoption in public sector were discussed, its importance to public sector was identified. The empirical research of Kaunas’ municipality performance principles and methods was made. The solutions of private business performance principles and methods adoption of in Kaunas’ municipality improvement were given. The MBA Graduation Paper contains 81 page, 23 figures, 17 tables, 3 attachments; 65 sources of scientific literature, information and law were used.
