Abstract [eng] Young person's integration to the labor market is a key event for the further development of his life. Youth behaviour in the labor market depends on the closely related social, economic, demographic and other factors. Youth unemployment occurs as a negative result of these factors interaction. Without addressing the problem of youth unemployment the risk of emigration increases and affects the general progress of the country. Youth is one of the social groups which have fewer opportunities to integrate to the labor market. This is as the result that young people’s education or vocational training does not meet the needs of labour market. Youth situation analysis in the Lithuanian labor market has shown that youth have less employment and higher unemployment rates than older people. Young people are problematic group not only in Lithuania but also in many EU countries. The youth unemployment problem existed before the crisis but after it has intensified. In order to find the 18-25 year old youth situation in the labor market the labor market survey was conducted. The object of research is 18 - 25 years old youth. The survey was conducted in 2011 March - April. The results showed that there is a need for better training programs to meet the overall needs of the country’s labor market. Training programs should focus not only on theoretical knowledge but also on its’ practical application. Through closer cooperation between educational institutions and business representatives would promote development of learning programs that enable young people to gain valuable work experience.
