Abstract [eng] Boguševičienė, D. Final (master's) thesis. ‚Improvement The Activities Of Group Living Homes For Persons With Mental And/Or Intellectual Disabilities In Implementing The Goals Of Institutional Care Reform Policy“ The process of institutional care transformation in Lithuania helps persons with disabilities living in care institutions gradually return to an open society. The opportunity to live in group living homes leads to positive changes in their development and independence. For the successful achievement of institutional transformation goals, it is important to assess the relationship between the achievements of the GGN activities and the goals of the transformation. Object of the work: analysis of the activities of group living homes for persons with mental and/or intellectual disabilities in the context of the transformation policy. The purpose of the work: to analyze the possibilities for improving the activities of group living homes for persons with mental and (or) intellectual disabilities, in order to implement the goals of the institutional care transformation policy. Tasks: 1. To describe the concept, goals and process of the institutional care transformation policy. 2. To analyze the activities of group living homes for persons with mental and (or) intellectual disabilities, in order to implement the goals of the institutional transformation. 3. To analyze the effectiveness of the activities of group living homes for persons with mental and (or) intellectual disabilities. 4. To analyze the possibilities for improving the activities of group living homes for persons with mental and (or) intellectual disabilities, in order to implement the goals of the institutional care transformation policy. Research methodology: qualitative research, semi-structured interviews, qualitative content analysis. Research results: It was determined that the effectiveness of GGN activities in providing individualized services is revealed in the empowerment of people with disabilities, increased self-esteem and self-confidence, involvement in work activities and participation in the labor market, increased independence, reduced medication use, and the transition from the GGN environment to independent life in protected housing. Improving the organization of GGN activities in line with the goals of the Reorganization requires the improvement of legal regulation, appropriate selection of GGN locations, adaptation of premises to the needs of residents, establishment of specialized GGNs, increasing the diversity of social workshops, high-quality training for staff qualification improvement, increasing staff remuneration, organizing interventions, improving the opportunities for receiving personal assistant assistance and employing people with disabilities.
