Abstract [eng] |
In this Master's graduation paper, the social responsibility (SR) activities of municipal museums are conceptually analysed and researched. The object of the work is the SR of municipal museums. The aim of the work is to create an empirically based model for evaluating the SR activities of municipal museums. Work tasks: to determine the conceptual components of SR of public sector organizations; To systematize knowledge about the international and national strategic documents regulating the SR of museums as factors of SR activity; Conceptually base the dimensions of the evaluation of SR activities of museums. Work methods: in the theoretical part of the work, the methods of scientific literature analysis and synthesis were used, in the empirical part of the work, document analysis and interview methods were used to collect data, which were analysed using the content analysis method. After analysing the scientific sources, it was found that there is a lack of objective evaluation tools to study the SR of public sector organizations. In Lithuania, no scientific research has been conducted in the field of evaluation of SR activities of museums. It was found that public sector SR is loosely related to the legal acts adopted in the state, which ensure the manifestation and implementation of SR through strategic documents and political decision-making. After analysing the initial integrated conceptual models of SR of museums and universities, it was found that six main dimensions (categories) are distinguished: organizational, social, cultural, environmental, ethical and economic. The conceptual theoretical model of SR evaluation of museums is formed. By applying the museum's conceptual SR evaluation model, the museum's SR activities were conceptually evaluated. The work empirically evaluated the SR activities of the Gargždai Land Museum in six dimensions. Through the selected qualitative and quantitative evaluation indicators of SR, it was established during the research that the museum is active in organizational, cultural, social, economic and ethical dimensions. It works weaker in the environmental dimension. At the end of the work, a revised SR performance assessment model for the performance evaluation of municipal museums is presented. The work presents recommendations for the head of the Gargždai Land Museum, the heads of the Klaipėda District Municipality, the Ministry of Culture, and researchers of the activities of the SR of Museums. Keywords: social responsibility, museum social responsibility, museum, social responsibility dimensions, non-profit public organizations. |
