Abstract [eng] The thesis “Employers’ involvement into higher education processes training future employees’ skills: qualitative comparative analysis of several companies”, seeks to apply new innovative approach towards the studies of employers involvement into higher education processes. Although it had been earlier discussed in a variety of Lithuanian works, most of them emphasize general situation – what type of companies and in which forms cooperate with higher education institutions, whether they are delighted with graduates‘skills, but almost none of them tried to search for causalities. On the basis of the theoretical background (literature of human capital, collective action theories and prospects for development of Lithuanian economic sectors), that emphasize why and when employers invest (or not) in their employees skills, variables, that encourage employers engagement into various forms of AM processes, have been chosen. These are: employer concentration and strong associaction, non-portability and specificity of skills, (sectorial) knowledge driven growth potential. The scope of the analysis is 9 companies which have been chosen taking into account company size, membership in the association, knowledge driven potential of the economic sector, and company activity – manufacturing or services. Seeking to evaluate causalities, fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis is being used. Fuzzy sets of the variables were formed and results reached while applying the Boolean minimization procedures. Although this study is based on 9 case studies, the findings can be used for broader generalizations.
