Abstract [eng] This paper defines the concept of the freedom of movement of persons, based on EU legislative acts, examining the concept at hand from origins to what it is at this day. It also defines the concepts of “worker”, “family member” and “third-country national”, based on both EU law and the European Court of Justice's interpretations. It is in relation to the freedom of movement of these specified groups of persons that the case-law over the last decade, specifically from year 2014 to 2024, of the European Court of Justice, has been examined in terms of how EU Member States' measures potentially hindering the freedom at issue in this paper are approached. Moreover, this work reviews requests to give preliminary rulings concerning restrictions on the freedom of movement of these groups of individuals that have been submitted at the time of writing but have not yet been examined by the European Court of Justice. In this regard, the author's views are expressed on how these cases could be examined by the European Court of Justice, looking specifically to the European Court of Justice's judgments on identical or similar issues over the last decade.
