Abstract [eng] This paper analyses the regulation of artificial intelligence and its impact on copyright and freedom of information. It looks at the right of authors to self-expression as part of freedom of information, and the right of the public to access copyrighted works as information, and how these rights are affected by artificial intelligence. In order to achieve the stated objectives, the paper analyses the regulation of text and data mining under the European Union Directive (EU) 2019/790, as well as Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 of 13 June 2024 (the Artificial Intelligence Act), assessing whether such regulation is effective in protecting copyright.
