Abstract [eng] In the master's thesis "Peculiarities of Adjudication of Family Cases", the author analyzes key procedural issues in family law, with particular focus on the specifics of handling divorce, child custody and residence, paternity establishment, and child support cases. The thesis provides a comprehensive overview of the legal framework and court practice, revealing how specific procedural provisions are applied in family disputes. From a comparative perspective, the thesis also examines the legal systems and practices of Estonia and Germany, aiming to assess how different jurisdictions address similar family-related issues. The main focus is placed on topics such as the grounds for divorce, protection of children's interests, the duration of proceedings, and the balance of rights and obligations between the parties. The thesis highlights several key challenges in the Lithuanian legal system — an overly lengthy and formalized divorce process, inconsistent practices in determining the child’s place of residence, difficulties in applying mediation, and the lack of uniformity in child support rulings. Based on foreign experience and Lithuanian court practice, the final part of the thesis offers proposals to improve procedural regulation in order to ensure a more efficient, timely, and child-friendly resolution of family disputes.
