Abstract [eng] The master's thesis analyses the role of the bailiff in the Lithuanian legal system by examining relevant legal acts, such as the Code of Civil Procedure of the Republic of Lithuania, the Law on Bailiffs of the Republic of Lithuania and the Instructions for Execution of Judgments, as well as case law and the works of legal scholars. The theme of the Master's thesis is most evident in the examination of the functions and services provided by bailiffs. This work analyses how a bailiff carries out the enforcement of judgments and other functions regulated by law and discusses each of the services provided by a bailiff. The role of the bailiff in the Lithuanian legal system is examined in the context of the development of the institution of the bailiff from the times of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania to the present day. This illustrates how the instituteof the bailiff has evolved over time. In addition, the topic sheds light on how the bailiff is involved in the enforcement of decisions. It is also important to analyse the role of the bailiff from a comparative perspective in order to shed light on what can be expected of bailiffs after 1 July 2026, when the enforcement mechanism will change. For this reason, this master thesis analyses German enforcement of judgments. Moreover, in the age of technology, when the topic of artificial intelligence is being discussed, it is important to discuss artificial intelligence in this paper. Therefore, in the context of the role of the bailiff, the Master's thesis discusses the possibility of artificial intelligence to abolish the bailiff profession.
