Abstract [eng] |
Adolescents‘ behavioral problems are a challenging problem that can cause negative consequences for the adolescents themselves and the people around them. While creativity is a phenomenon that encourages the purposeful expression of behavioral problems. The aim of this work is to investigate the relations among creativity and behavioral problems in 9th-10th grade students, using intelligence and personality traits. The subjects – 61 adolescents (M = 15,59, SD = 0,64): 50 girls, 10 boys and 1 person who marked “other”. All subjects were 9th-10th grade students studying at one Vilnius gymnasium. Adolescents’ behavioral problems during the past half-year were assessed using Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) (Goodman, 1997). Personality traits – the Adolescents’ Adjective Check List (Girdzijauskienė et al., n.d.). Reasoning abilities – Cattell’s Fluid Intelligence Test (CFT 20-R) (Weiß, 2006). Creativity – Test for Creative Thinking – Drawing Production (TCT-DP) (Urban & Jellen, 2013). The results of the study showed that there are no relations among behavioral problems and creativity in adolescents. It can be assumed that behavioral problems can overshadow the expression of creativity and that creative adolescents do not necessarily have behavioral problems – they can solve problems creatively. |
