Abstract [eng] SUMMARY The role of parents' self-differentiation, conflict resolution strategies and parenting style on the adolescent asocial behavior problems. V. Baltusevičienė. Vilnius. Vilnius University, 2025. Problem. According to the data of the Lithuanian Department of Statistics, the number of juveniles convicted of criminal offenses is increasing every year. This explains that antisocial behavior of adolescents is increasing and taking on increasingly aggressive forms of behavior. Researchers identify adolescence as a critical age period during which moral values are less associated with parental authority and peers become more of a role model, but family relationships influence a teenager's communication with peers: the poorer the relationship with parents, the more the teenager is influenced by his peers. In this context, conflicts between parents, the frequency and intensity of their occurrence, the influence of the decision-making strategies used and the parenting style used by parents are most often studied and emphasized. However, in the literature, very little attention is paid to what influences the choice of one or another parenting style and conflict resolution strategies in the family, therefore, this work assumes that the personality characteristics of parents, such as the self-differentiation of a person, are of considerable importance here. Research objective. This study examines the significance of the level of parental self-differentiation for the expression of antisocial behavior in their adolescents through mediational relationships, where the mediators are parental conflict strategies and their parenting styles. Methodology. The study involved 114 subjects (81 mothers, 23 fathers, 2 kinship caregivers, 8 non-biological caregivers). The adolescents were aged 16 to 18 years inclusive. 63 of them had a criminal record and were under the supervision of the probation service at the time of the study. Instruments used in the study: The Parenting Styles and Dimensions Questionnaire (PSDQ) was used to determine parental parenting style; The differentiation of self inventory (DSI–R) was used to determine the level of self-differentiation; The S. Alexandra Burt and M. Brent Donnellan (2009) (Antisocial Behavior Questionnaire, STAB) questionnaire was used to determine antisocial behavior; The Crenshaw, A.O., Christensen, A., Baucom, D.H., Epstein, N.B.,Baucom, B.R.W. (2017) (The Communication Patterns Questionnaire, CPQ) questionnaire was used to determine communication patterns in couples.
