Abstract [eng] Given the trends of population aging and the decline in quality of life in later years, it is increasingly important to ensure the well-being of older adults in Lithuania and to create conditions for dignified aging. Older adults living in nursing homes face greater physical, psychological, and social challenges than those living at home. Research confirms that group Dance Movement Therapy can help address age-related challenges. However, there is a lack of studies that thoroughly examine the possibilities of applying Dance Movement Therapy in nursing homes. Additionally, the opportunities for involving residents who are no longer able to walk independently in the sessions have not been sufficiently explored. The aim of the study is to analyze the possibilities of applying Dance Movement Therapy for older adults living in nursing homes and to reveal the experiences of this therapy among this client group. Research objectives: 1. To analyze, through a literature review, the physical, psychological, and social challenges experienced by older adults, as well as the context of life in a nursing home. 2. To assess the applicability of Dance Movement Therapy methods for this client group. 3. Based on qualitative research, to explore the experiences of applying dance-movement therapy to nursing home residents, including those with severe physical limitations who can no longer walk independently. Research methods: Qualitative, ethnographic study. Data collection methods: Observation and field notes. Data analysis method: Thematic analysis. Results: Three main themes emerged: "Autumn and Winter: The Unpredictable Avalanche of Misfortunes," "Let Us Gently Pass Through the Avalanche of Misfortunes – Enduring Challenges," and "Spring and Summer: Forgetting Misfortunes and Celebrating Life Together." Key conclusions: Older adults face complex physical, psychological, and social challenges. Dance Movement Therapy can contribute to the well-being of nursing home residents by fulfilling their needs for competence, relatedness, and autonomy. This therapy can support individuals in enduring and accepting difficulties and can also become a source of joy. Dance Movement Therapy is applicable even to residents with significant physical limitations.
