Abstract [eng] With the acceleration of globalization, migration is becoming a common practice for modern people for many reasons: the opportunity to settle in the desired country, the search for a better job, etc. However, migration also increases the number of problems and challenges. One of such challenges is the protection of the state and its citizens from threats. When accepting citizens of other countries in Lithuania, it is important to create a good legal basis for solving migration issues and to ensure the rights of foreigners, as well as to improve public safety and their attitude towards migrants, in order to reduce the likelihood of conflicts. One of the most important tools in shaping public attitudes towards migrants and the current Lithuanian migration policy is the media. News presented in the media shape the audience's perception of the current reality, they form a general image of people arriving from other countries, as well as the current issues of Lithuanian migration policy. The aim of this paper is to analyze the current migration policy of Lithuania and its impact on state security, therefore the following tasks are set in the paper: discuss the theoretical concept of migration and its connection with crime; review the main causes of migration and the theories explaining them; analyze how the media constructs social reality and what are the theories of media impact; to analyze how migrants are represented in the Lithuanian media; to find out what factors shape the feeling of public security and what is the linear regulation of migration processes in ensuring state security; to study the contemporary Lithuanian migration policy and its influence on the security of Lithuania.
