Abstract [eng] Despite the growing number of studies that can be found in the scientific literature that emphasize the importance of the relationship in the context of existential paradigm supervision, not many studies have been conducted that would explore which aspects of the relationship are the most significant. Some of the conducted scientific studies examine the supervision relationship only from one perspective – a supervisor or a supervisee – which limits an understanding of the relationship that is considered a key psychotherapeutic factor in the existential paradigm. This study aims to reveal the process of supervision of the existential paradigm from the perspective of supervisors and supervisees by exploring aspects of the relationship supervision process and the effective factors that contribute to its effectiveness. A qualitative research strategy was chosen to reveal the experience of the relationship, the data were collected using a semi-structured interview method and analyzed using the thematic analysis method. The study involved 15 participants – 7 supervisors and 8 supervisees, who shared their experiences in existential supervision. After data analysis, two themes and twelve subthemes were identified that reveal the relationship aspects of existential supervision. The findings of the study revealed that in existential supervision, the relationship is perceived as an equivalent and supportive meeting of colleagues, with the most important exploration based on security, dialogue and authenticity. Such a relationship helps to openly explore professional experiences and contributes to the effectiveness of supervisions. Also, this study significantly supplements research on existential supervision by revealing new aspects of a relationship that has not been emphasized in the literature – humor and compatibility with a supervisor.
