Abstract [eng] ASSESSMENT OF SPECIFIC SKILLS IN FIELD HOCKEY IN A TWO-YEAR PERIOD. Athlete testing is described as a systematic assessment of characteristics using specially developed tests (Stonkus, 2002). Testing allows assessing the athlete's studied characteristics in order to improve the efficiency of the training process and sports results. It is important that testing is based on methodological principles so that the research data is accurate (Skernevičius et al., 2004). In team sports, where individual players' skills directly affect the overall team result, testing is especially important (Baumgartner ir kt., 2007). When studying the skills of field hockey players, it is possible to monitor the individual progress of athletes (Nanda, 2021), and based on the results obtained, adjust training programs, assess overall team dynamics, and conduct player selections. Research problem. There is a lack of consistent, repeated, and scientifically based assessment of the specific skills of field hockey players, which would allow for an objective assessment of the progress of athletes and the effectiveness of training according to playing positions. Research object. Field hockey players' specific skills. Hypothesis: 1. The average results of the defensive line have improved over a two-year period. 2. The results of the skills of players newly integrated into the team have a significant impact on the overall change in technical ability results. The purpose of the study – to evaluate and compare the specific skills of field hockey players over a two-year period. Objectives: 1. Discuss the peculiarities of athlete testing from a theoretical perspective. 2. After repeated testing of field hockey-specific skills, evaluate possible changes in results. 3. After comparing the results of a two-year period, confirm or refute the hypotheses raised. 4. After evaluating the team's game chains, determine what progress is noticeable over a twoyear period and provide recommendations for improving the training process. Research methods. Literature analysis, testing, mathematical statistics and comparative analysis. Research sample. 24 female field hockey players (ages 14-17) who train and compete together. Research results and main conclusions. The research results showed that specific skills changed over a two-year period. It was found that the overall level of technical skills in the defense team slightly deteriorated, therefore the first hypothesis was not confirmed. Based on the research data, 6 it was observed that the change of players had a significant impact on the overall team average of technical skills results, therefore the second hypothesis was confirmed. Thus, it was found that there is noticeable progress in the attack team, some stability in the midfield line, and a decline in technical skills in the defense team. Therefore, targeted recommendations are provided to the coach for improving the players' technical skills. Keywords: field hockey, athlete testing, specific skills.
