BI systems in the business world can be used to multi-task several functions and the multidimensional analysis of information used to create conducive environment for effective decision-making, strategic thinking, and acting in organisations. The main aim of the thesis is to determine the relationship between success factors and usage of the BI among SMEs in Lebanon. The research employed a mixed research method to collect quantitative and qualitative data from certain 70 key persons and 6 managers working at SMEs who have knowledge of BI using self-administered questionnaire and interview schedule respectively. Data collected was analysed using SPSS version 23 where reliability, factor analysis, descriptive, and correlation analyses and thematic analysis were conducted. The reliability tests indicates that the results are reliable with Cronbach‘s alpha company motivation (0.939), speed of adoption (0.926), perceived importance (0.802), satisfaction (0.945), and internal effectiveness (0.734). There is significant positive relationship between satisfaction and external effectiveness (0.994) with the t-value = 4.307, p<0.001; and internal effectiveness (0.685) with the t-value = 16.816, p<0.001. In conclusion, satisfaction of the employees on the usage of BI system positively influences both external and internal effectiveness of the SMEs. Obstacles and barriers such as lack of human capital, financial resources, cost of BI implementation and lack of control over quality of data affects the implementation of the BI system. |
