| Abstract [eng] |
The article analyses the concept of “artificial nature” in the Anthropocene, focusing on the similarities between natural and artificial objects, and the nostalgia, solastalgia, and sense of the uncanny provoked by the blurring of boundaries between nature and artificiality that characterizes today’s environment. Building on Kant’s idea in the Critique of Judgment that art imitates natural phenomena, the article argues that the concept of nature is becoming increasingly unclear, and that the level of “artificial nature” in our environment is expanding as technology becomes more prevalent. Drawing on the work of various authors, the article proposes that, to understand the complex relationship between contemporary humans and their environment (“artificial nature”), it is more useful to consider the concept of the uncanny than nostalgia or solastalgia, as this helps us to grasp the sense of loss of control that is emblematic of the Anthropocene. |
